Help the Feline Fund by donating goods rather than monetary donations

26 Jan

We know that not everyone can either afford, or wants to donate monthly. Perhaps you would rather send the cats and kittens goods that they can use instead of money.  Well, now you can thanks to Amazon Wish List at Amazon.co.uk

We have set up a wish list of items we use every day including food, toys, stationary and more.  You choose which item(s) you would like to send and checkout as normal. Amazon will ship the items direct to Sunny Harbour.

How does this help the Feline Fund I hear you ask?

Well, by sending goods that we need every day for the cats and kittens means that we don’t have to use shelter funds / public donations to buy the items donated. Therefore it eases ever so slightly the strain on our limited funds enabling us to squirrel away a little here and there for the Feline Fund.

Since September 2012 we have managed to raise an amazing £2500 by doing just that but, we couldn’t have done it without your wonderful kindness and generosity.   We are extremely grateful to each and every person who has donated through our Amazon Wish List and we try our very best to post details to Facebook when deliveries arrive.

How do I use and find the wish list?

Thankfully Amazon UK have made the process as easy as possible.

Go to the Amazon UK website and on the right hand side of the page click wish lists then find a wish list.

Type Sunny Harbour in the search box and our list will show.  Then browse our list of items or choose your own and follow Amazon’s checkout functionality to pay and set the delivery address as Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue.

Just in case you need it our full address is:

Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue
70 Bank Street

Thank you so so much for all of the wonderful support so many have already shown. The difference you make to the welfare of the cats and helping our rescue community is far far more than you real

Help us reach our fundraising goal – Top 5 ideas for home based fundraising.

7 Jan

There are so many ways that you can help Sunny Harbour in their fundraising to create a new purpose built cat rescue centre.  We have jotted down just 5 of the ways you could help below to get you started.  Have a think and let us know what you come up with. We are always happy to hear from you and help where we can.

1 The most common activity is of course a sponsored event. You could run, cycle, abseil, swim or get the kids involved with anything from a sponsored silence to a bike ride.

2. Bake sale. Organise to meet with friends for an informal coffee & cake afternoon and donate the proceeds.  Alternatively regularly take baking to work to sell to raise funds. If you feel very organised consider running a one off or regular coffee morning.

3. Have a clear out. Sunny Harbour can utilise a wide variety of items to generate funds. This includes good quality clothes, unwanted gifts, broken or whole jewellery, unwanted paper foreign currency, mobile phones.   If you feel up to it why not ask friends and family to do the same.

4. Organise a collection at work asking people to bring in their unwanted broken jewellery, beads, currency, mobile phones, CDs, DVDs so that we can recycle them for funds.

5 Nominate Sunny Harbour for local charity draws and grants. For example Asda community nominations, Pets at Home and other stores that support local organisations.  Simply spreading the word helps so tell people you meet about us and our work.

No matter how large or small the donation it all adds up and creates more £s to help us reach our end goal.

We can only achieve this goal with your help and support and even if that means just £1 a week from you, your friends, or family it will all add up over the year and every single special penny counts.

If you would like to chat to us about your fundraising ideas then drop us an email or give us a call on 0300 330 1412.

Can you help us?

28 Aug

If you are reading this thank you for visiting to learn about our project and can we say how much we desperately need your help to reach our objectives.

Whilst you can support our project with regular or one off   monetary donations there are also several other ways you can help us create a safe future for the street cats of tomorrow, even if it is just sharing this website, telling friends and family about us and helping us raise more support.

1 way is to arrange community collections.  There are a number of items that Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue collect that we utilise to raise funds for the cat rescue.  Items such as:

  • CD / DVD / Games (Xbox, PS, PC)
  • Unwanted Gifts
  • Mobile Phones
  • Costume Jewellery, Beads, Gold / Silver Jewellery (Broken or whole)
  • Watches (Broken or Whole)
  • Good Quality Clothing
  • Foreign Paper Currency

Perhaps you could post a notice in the local shop?  Or ask friends and family or even neighbours to help in collecting goods?

You could organise a bake sale?  BBQ at home? take part in a car boot sale for the cats?

You don’t have to do anything big, even little things help and the more people we can get to support our work and help us a ‘little’ the greater chance we have to reach our objectives and continue providing first class care to more and more cats every year.

Challenge yourself with a fundraising event such as a sponsored hill walk, swim, cycle, bungee, abseil or any other activity you think would be fun and challenging to raise critical funding needed to save the cats and kittens of tomorrow from disease and sickness as well as homelessness.

If you wish to do a sponsored event remember you can use our Virgin Money Giving pages to collect sponsorship and Gift Aid online.

Whatever way you choose to help know that without you, we could not provide the care we already do for SO many cats and kittens each year.  Without you, we will never be able to improve the world for the cats and kittens of tomorrow.  We desperately need your help to spread the word, help our fundraising efforts and keep us pushing forward in these already very difficult times.

If we don’t put in place plans for the future to expand we fear that our current resources will be stretched to breaking point leaving the cats with no Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue for help.  Please, if you can, take a few moments to consider how best you can help us and our feline charges.

If you would like to know more about our vision for the future be sure to visit our main Feline Fund website.

Please do contact us with any questions you may have or ideas for fundraising you feel can help us achieve our goals.
